Research Fellow (DesCartes – WP2)

Postdoc Research Fellow positions in AutoML, Bayesian optimization, AutoRL & multi-agent RL (DesCartes – WP2)

Job offer posted on 17 march 2022

The DesCartes programme is developing a hybrid AI, combining Learning, Knowledge and Reasoning, which has good properties (need for less resources and data, security, robustness, fairness, respect for privacy, ethics), and demonstrated on industrial applications of the smart city (digital energy, monitoring of structures, air traffic control).

The program brings together 80 permanent researchers (half from France, half from Singapore), with the support of large industrial groups (Thales SG, EDF SG, ESI group, CETIM Matcor, ARIA etc.).

The research will take place mainly in Singapore, at the premises of CNRS@CREATE, with a competitive salary and generous funding for missions.

Read more about the DesCartes program here.

We are hiring postdoctoral fellows interested in advancing the state of the art in learning with less data (AutoML, Bayesian optimization, meta-learning, active learning), with applications to automated reinforcement learning and multi-agent reinforcement learning for a period of 1 year with possible renewal/extension.

The postdoctoral fellows will be based in the CNRS@CREATE Office. The postdoctoral fellows have the opportunity to collaborate with/co-advise the PhD and undergraduate students in our research group.

For more information on our research group, interests, and recent papers in ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, UAI, AISTATS, and AAAI, visit

A recorded seminar on our recent works is available here:

The postdoctoral fellows are financially supported by DesCartes Program.

Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, machine learning, statistics, math, data science, operations research or other related disciplines.

He/she must have a strong proficiency in programming.

A good publication record in the premier machine learning and AI conferences and/or journals is preferred.

Salary range: 6000-7200 (Research Fellow)
