[DEMO] Boid Corner Interractive Installation – 24&25 June 2024

Boid Corner Demo

On 24 & 25 June 2024, Prof. Marida di Crosta and M. Ishmam Ahmed presented the Boid Corner Interractive Installation to the CREATE Community.

The installation is currently exhibited in the CREATE Gallery (level 2 of the tower), and accessible to the public.

The Boid Corner is an installation referencing the tradition of bird corners once existing in some Singapore neighbourhoods as a conducive space for bird-lovers to gather and interact. Combined with the pioneering experiences of artificial life simulations (boids = bird-like objects), the Corner transports visitors into a playful, chirping environment where hand poses are tracked and turned into virtual wings/birds, while other hands fly above Singapore in a flock, softwareenabled to possibly avoid polluted clouds.

Meanwhile, some of the data provided by the sensors are interpreted in a slightly peculiar way, thus blurring the boundaries between science and fiction while introducing an experiential conversation between living creatures and the machine in a city environment.
